12 SUMMER HOME MAINTENCE TIPS

Summer is a great time to tackle some of your home maintenance list items.  We’d love to share 12 SUMMER HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS to keep your home maintained.    

  1. Clean Faucets & Showerheads- to remove mineral deposits from your aerators
  1. Unclog Drains- Check all tub and sink drains for debris and unclog if necessary
  1. Check Toilets for Leaks– check around all toilets for leaks
  1. Seal Tile Grout– this should be done once a year for all wall and floor tiles that don’t get much moisture, and more often in showers and bathroom backsplashes
  1. Clean Windows– clean the inside and outside of your windows and windowsills. You might want to hire professionals to clean the outside of your home’s windows
  1. Inspect Fencing– check to make sure your fencing doesn’t have any damage that needs to be repaired
  1. Clean Vents- vacuum all vents in your house to make sure air can flow smoothly
  1. Tighten Handles/Doorknobs- over time these can loosen, it is a good idea to go around and check them and tighten them
  1. Test GFCI Outlets- circuit testers can be purchased at home improvement stores so you can test them yourselves, or you can hire an electrician to come out to test your outlets
  1. Schedule Carpet Cleaning- have your carpets professionally cleaned or your can rent a carpet cleaner from a home improvement store and do this yourself
  1. Clean Gutters- clear out any debris and leaves so that your gutters aren’t clogged during the rainy season
  1. Hot Water Heater Maintenance- to increase the life of your hot water heater, you should drain and flush it out to remove sediment.
