12 Point Spring Home Maintenance Checklist

With the weather finally truly feeling like spring, its time to look at your spring home maintenance checklist.

One of the best ways to do this is to get in the habit of using a regular seasonal checklist. Here then is our guide to your spring home maintenance checklist.

  1. HVAC check: With warmer days just ahead, now is the time to make sure your HVAC unit is clean and functioning properly.
  2. Air Filters: Change your AC filters to make sure you are cycling fresh air and keeping pollutants out.
  3. Sprinkler Systems: Check your sprinkler heads for damage and test your system to make sure all stations are working normally.
  4. Check Insulation: Ensure proper insulation of window sills, door sills and thresholds. Fill in cracks, caulk edges or replace when needed. Proper caulking and insulation will keep our the heat and humidy of the summer months ahead.
  5. Check water drainage: With summer rains approaching, now is a good time to check if your property is draining effectively. Standing water in the summer invites mosquitoes and other pests, mold growth and even structural damage.
  6. Check Pool and Window Screens: With the warmer temperatures come bugs. Now is the time to fix any pool enclosure damage from the Hurricane and storms of last year that have not yet been repaired.
  7. Check your pool maintenance: Its easy to ignore the pool in the colder months. Give your pool a good brushing, check pH and alkalinity levels. Check your pool pump filter to be sure your system is operating a peak efficiency.
  8. Check Smoke Dectectors: Now is a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. Its also a good idea to dust or vacuum the detectors to keep them at peak performance.
  9. Check Light Bulbs: Examine the bulbs in all fixtures to see if they are working and are the correct wattage.
  10. Check Electrical Outlets: Check all outlets for frayed wires, loose plugs and overloaded outlets.
  11. Fire Extenquisher: Time to remember where your fire extinguisher is located and that it is accessible if needed. Be sure that it is filled and ready if needed.
  12. Check roofing: Now is a good time to have your roof checked for any damage.

So there you have it. Our 12 point Spring Home Maintenance Checklist. Happy Spring!
