30 Apr Outdoor Kitchen Ideas from Devonshire Custom Homes
The outdoor kitchen has become an extension of custom home living space. Nothing makes dining outside easier than a fully equipped kitchen right outside the house.
Well beyond a basic barbecue grill, an outdoor kitchen may have a sink, refrigerator, wet bar, even a fireplace or pizza oven. And while a grill is still central to an outdoor cooking space, it’s likely to come fitted out with side burners, a warming shelf, and a roasting spit or smoker.
Building the perfect outdoor kitchen may be easier than you think, if you break it down into four basic sections: wash, prep, cook, and cool.
As simple or elaborate as you like, having an outdoor sink is ideal for building your outdoor kitchen.
A prep are is sometimes overlooked, but will be a tremendous convenience. We recommend installing easy to clean, weatherproof cabinets and counters using materials like stone, steel or a combination of stone and stainless steel.
For your cooking area, you will need a cooking appliance you don’t have in your indoor kitchen. For example:
- BBQ grill (gas or charcoal)
- Cooking range
- Fire pit
- Hibachi grill
- Outdoor brick pizza oven
- Warming drawer
Your outdoor kitchen doesn’t have to include a full-size refrigerator, but a mini fridge or freezer is definitely a good idea. On a hot day in July, you’ll be glad you added a mini fridge to your outdoor kitchen.
So there you have it. Creating a outdoor kitchen is as simple as 1, 2, 3 … 4. Plan for enough space for all four of these zones. Take your entertaining game to the next level with a great outdoor kitchen and living area. Build with these four sections in mind you’ll enjoy spending time outdoors with friends and family. Florida living at its best.
